NIF to Protest New Testament Book Bonfire

Next Tuesday, demonstrators will gather in Or Yehuda near Tel Aviv to protest the burning of dozens of New Testament books in the city last week.  Deputy Mayor Oz Aharon was reportedly in the crowd that set fire to the Christian holy books. The protest, organized by NIF grantee BINA: Center for Jewish Identity and Hebrew Culture together with NIF, is also receiving financial support from NIF.

The event, timed to coincide with Israel’s Book Week, will be entitled “Where They Burns Books, They Will Also Burn People,” echoing the poem of the 19th century German Jewish writer Heinrich Heine.
