NIF Presents: Conquering the Dividers: Racism, Exclusion and Ultranationalism in Israel
Sunday, September 29, 9:50-11:05 am
Room 207B, Washington Convention Center, 801 Mount Vernon Place NW
Over the last several years, Israel has experienced an increase in divisive and polarizing behavior, some of which is rooted in the unresolved conflict. This panel will examine the corrosive effects of anti-democratic nationalism and religious extremism on Israel’s democratic underpinnings in the here and now, as the country wrestles with increasing violence against minorities, exclusion of women and polarizing, racist rhetoric. Join the New Israel Fund and three activists and political leaders to delve deeper into the roots of these issues and explore the roadblocks - and solutions - toward building a more inclusive and tolerant Jewish homeland.
