In an electrifying demonstration of support for democratic values, Israelis this summer took part in the largest social protests in the country’s history. Nearly half a million citizens took to the streets with a rallying cry for social justice. The New Israel Fund – working since 1979 for a better, more just and compassionate society that lives up to the promise of Israel’s Declaration of Independence – has been supporting this grassroots movement while leading the fight against extremist and anti-democratic forces.
