 ummer took part in the largest social protests in the country’s history.
  Nearly half a million citizens took to the streets with a rallying cry fo
 r social justice. The New Israel Fund – working since 1979 for a better\
 , more just and compassionate society that lives up to the promise of Isra
 el’s Declaration of Independence – has been supporting this grassroots
  movement while leading the fight against extremist and anti-democratic fo
