  is an analyst and commentator on Israeli security and strategic affairs\,
  with a broad background on gender issues. Serving in the Israeli Defense 
 Forces (IDF)\, Oron broke through numerous gender barriers. She was the fi
 rst woman IDF deputy spokesperson\, the first woman who served on the facu
 lty of the National Defense College and\, as commander of the IDF's Women'
 s Corp\, she initiated significant reforms for women in the IDF and in Isr
 ael. She has also served as deputy national security advisor at Israel's N
 ational Security Council.<br /> <br />Oron will speak about the impact of
  religious extremism on gender equality\, democratic values and the Israel
 i military. <br /> <br />She currently serves on The New Israel Fund Inte
 rnational Council\, as well as other leading social justice and peace orga
