Join the New Israel Fund for our first Family Israel Experience trip, December 21-31, 2009.  The tour is open to all, but geared to families with children. Israel is an ever-changing mosaic of peoples, cultures, and identities.  Explore the key points of interest that bring us face to face with our historic past, and meet with key players who are shaping the social change movement in Israel for a hopeful, sustainable future.  Experience a profound personal connection with the people, the landscape and sights.  Go behind the newspaper headlines and television sound bites to examine the social and ideological realities of contemporary Israeli life.

ISRAEL:  TOWARDS A PROGRESSIVE VISION

Explore the country. Visit the streets and sights of Jerusalem.  Wander off the beaten track, touring little known neighborhoods and villages in the north and south.  Discover the richness of Jewish heritage in a dynamic Diaspora Museum workshop.  Participate in a hands-on Tikkun Olam Social Action project with an Israeli community.  Experience Israel beyond the myth, in a pluralistic, experiential environment meant for all generations.

Meet the players and stretch your mind. Meet with leaders and grassroots activists, civil rights lawyers, academics, writers, and artists who are shaping the social change movement in Israel.  Speak with people of diverse political and ideological views, Orthodox and secular, Jewish and Palestinian, liberal and conservative, Sephardi and Ashkenazi, recent immigrants and veteran Israelis.  Through personal encounters, learn about key challenges facing Israel and the steps Israelis are taking to meet them.

Who is this trip for? This trip is designed for individuals, couples and families.  First-timers and veteran visitors to Israel will be able to learn and enjoy.  (Recommended for families with children nearing or having celebrated Bar/Bat Mitzvah).
