The 2009 elections results are a dramatic turning point in Israel's history, said Rachel Liel, SHATIL’s Executive Director. "It looks like the left was crushed, that anti-democratic trends and racism are on the rise. Red lines were crossed. NIF, SHATIL and Israel's social change organizations are facing a new reality, which we are just beginning to analyze in order to understand our role in the near future."

SHATIL's Center for Policy Change is in the process of identifying connections and common interests between SHATIL, civil society and the new MK's. 

The Center's pre-election daily newsletter has been transformed into a weekly e-newsletter containing information of use to social change organizations such as the composition and tasks of Knesset committees, analyses, and more. The first post election issue focuses on the costs of creating a coalition; demographic trends in the new Knesset; the campaigns: the morning after; parties' use of the Internet and technology during the campaign; the Israeli elections and the rest of the world, and more. 

SHATIL is planning a workshop for social change organizations to discern political possibilities for social change relative to the new Knesset, as well as seminars for new MK's on issues related to social change.
