The National Labor Court has ordered two Israel security companies to pay over $52,000 in compensation to two Israeli security guards.  The employees were represented by NIF grantee Kav LaOved – Workers' Hotline.

The court found that the employees had been compelled to sign contracts under false names in order to reduce their seniority-related social benefits and their severance pay when they were subsequently fired.

Rachel Idelevich, the Kav LaOved attorney representing the security guards, expressed satisfaction with the court's decision.  She said, "Compensation for improperly withheld salaries awarded by the Labor Court are usually stingy, and it is rare to obtain this kind of decision."

The NIF family has targeted the exploitation of workers and the denial of basic social entitlements in the security sector.

Alexander Nabokin, Director General of NIF grantee Centurion, which protects the rights of new-immigrant security guards in Ashkelon and Netanya, said that during 2009 his organization was able to recover nearly $1 million in unpaid salary, overtime, severance pay and other entitlements.
