GOALS
To promote social equality for gender-based, national and ethnic groups in Israel.

BACKGROUND
Adva Center, established in 1991, specializes in making detailed analyses of the implications of the government's budget for the various sectors of Israeli society. Its analyses include a variety of issues (e.g., income distribution) and cover the periphery and center of Israel -, men and women, etc. The organization provides information and professional expertise to other organizations that promote social change and supports campaigns in the field aimed at affecting allocations for social issues.

STRATEGIES
Publishing analyses and reports; raising awareness; advocacy vis-a-vis the authorities.

HIGHLIGHTS

• Publishing 15 reports on the implications of the State Budget.
• More than 70 workshops and lectures for about 10,000 participants; and a website that receives some 30,000 hits a month.
• Meetings with MKs, Ministers, and Knesset Committees.
• Analyses of the State Budget on the basis of gender; drafting of a document on the reforms required to encourage women to join the labor market;  and running four courses on topics such as the effect of the government's socioeconomic policy on the budget and its impact on gender.
