Alternative Voice in the Galilee

GOALS
To support Jewish-Arab efforts to equalize the rights of Arab residents in the Galilee to those of their Jewish counterparts, and promote mixed housing.

BACKGROUND

Israeli Arabs suffer from a severe shortage of housing as a result of natural growth and government policies that include expropriation of land; lack of investment in housing construction on state-owned land in Arab localities; and not establishing new Arab towns. Alternative Voice in the Galilee is an Arab -Jewish organization that was established following the events of October 2000.

STRATEGIES

Public education activities to raise awareness of the importance of joint living for both communities; advocacy aimed at the Misgav Regional Council and Jewish community settlements to encourage them to admit Arabs; outreach to Arabs with the goal of encouraging them to live in Jewish localities in Misgav; creating encounters and conducting in-depth clarification of topics essential to both communities.
