Israel’s Attorney General Finds No Basis for Demands to Investigate NIF as Newest Im Tirtzu Attack Sparks Outrage 
August 19, 2010

Last week, Israeli Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein rejected a demand from ultra-nationalists to open an investigation into NIF and 16 of its grantees. The original impetus for the investigation was last January’s report by a new organization named Im Tirtzu, that purported to show that negative information in the Goldstone report about the Gaza operation came almost entirely from NIF-sponsored organizations in the Israeli human rights community. Israel's Bedouin citizens, together with Jewish partners, peacefully protest in the midst of home demolitions  
August 19, 2010

On Monday, more than 500 Bedouin and Jews protested the ongoing destruction of Al-Araqib, an unrecognized Bedouin village in Israel's Negev desert. The Israel Lands Authority has destroyed the entire village three times within the past three weeks leaving residents exposed to the desert sun at the height of the summer. Read>

Unrecognized Bedouin Village Destroyed Leaving 200 children homeless 
July 30, 2010

On Wednesday, Israeli bulldozers drove into the unrecognized Negev Bedouin village al-Arakib. As the families who lived there looked on, the bulldozers razed the entire community leaving some 300 residents, including 200 children, without a home or water at the height of the summer. Read>

From Mixed to Shared: Haifa as a Shared City International Conference 
July 29, 2010

More than 200 neighborhood activists, organizational representatives, city council members, business people, academics, and others participated in From Mixed to Shared: The Haifa Alternative, an international conference held by SHATIL on June 22-24 in cooperation with the European Association of Local Democracy Agencies (ALDA) and the Technion's Center for Urban and Regional Studies. The Dahmash Rollercoaster: Residents' homes won't be demolished – for now 
July 29, 2010

In a positive counterpoint to the demolition in the Negev, activists in another unrecognized village fought and won – for now – to stop the demolitions. The 600 residents of Dahmash, an unrecognized neighborhood on the Lod-Ramle border, and over 1,000 other sympathetic Israelis waited on July 14th for the Petach Tikvah District Court to announce its decision on the impending home demolition orders for the neighborhood. Israeli Pluralistic Jewish Public Wedding Protests Denial of Right to Marry

Hundreds of wedding guests came to the Tel Aviv cinematheque plaza on Sunday evening, the Israeli Valentine’s Day counterpart festival of Tu B’Av, to celebrate the wedding of Yulia Tagil and Stas Granin. Read>

With our board leadership, our new CEO, Daniel Sokatch, and our new-to-the-position Executive Director in Israel, Rachel Liel, asking for a comprehensive review of our principles, policies and procedures, both staff and board knew that this meeting would represent a serious set of discussions and decisions. The Only Democracy in the Middle East? The Battle for Israel’s Soul  
July 16, 2010

In a demonstration of support for the New Israel Fund and the values it shares with activists around Israel, leading Israeli thinkers and artists participated last month in a one-day NIF Symposium: “The Only Democracy in the Middle East? The Battle for Israel’s Soul”. Held in Jaffa with more than 500 people in attendance, the Symposium provided a very public platform to emphasize and endorse the NIF agenda. Read>

New Israel Fund Social Leadership Award Awarded to Dov Lautman  
July 16, 2010

The opening event of the 2010 NIF Board meeting was held at the Rabin Center in Tel Aviv. It was combined with a ceremony for the first annual New Israel Fund Social Leadership Award that was bestowed upon prominent business leader Dov Lautman in recognition of his inspiring leadership and extraordinary contribution to Israeli society, promoting social justice and equality in Israel.
