NIF Online Petition Makes Media Headlines in Israel
Written by Ruby Ong

An online petition signed by nearly 4000 Jews worldwide in support of the Israeli social justice protests made major media headlines in Israel ahead of Saturday night's massive social protest demonstration. On Friday morning, a full-page ad about the petition, including thousands of signatories, appeared in the Israeli edition of the International Herald Tribune.

In the hours leading up to the demonstration, the petition – entitled, "Thousands of Jews in the US Sign Petition Supporting Protest" – was the top story on the home page of Israel's popular "Walla" website.

The morning after the massive rallies, the petition and the support of Jews overseas was featured in many Israeli media outlets. The mass-circulation daily newspaper Yisrael Hayom bore the headline, "Thousands of American Jews Sign Petition Supporting Social Protests" in its Sunday edition, and the Jerusalem Post ran a story titled, "New Israel Fund Posts Online Petition for Social Justice"
