POSITION TITLE: Chicago Regional Director

The New Israel Fund is the leading organization committed to equality and democracy for all Israelis. NIF strengthens organizations and leaders that work to achieve equality for all citizens of the state; realize the civil and human rights of all, including Arab citizens of Israel; recognize and reinforce the essential pluralism of Israeli society; and empower groups on the economic margins of Israeli society.

NIF seeks a talented, entrepreneurial and creative fundraising professional with individual and major gift experience to lead the effort to grow and reinforce NIF’s presence throughout the greater Chicago area. The Regional Director is responsible for working with NIF’s existing donors in the region, reaching out to potential new sources of funding, and positioning the organization as the leading venue for those seeking to advance democracy and equality in Israel.

S/he will craft and drive forward a strategy for growing the overall campaign and strengthening NIF’s presence in the Chicago area. Stewarding the existing donor file and identifying and cultivating new major donor prospects is a primary focus for the RD. The RD will manage and develop a cadre of local volunteers and will personally represent NIF in public settings, raising the organization’s profile and serving as a compelling point of personal contact for supporters, prospects and organizational partners. This position reports to the VP of Development, and works closely with NIF’s national communications and fundraising staff, and the NIF national executive staff.

The position requires a person with an outstanding understanding of contemporary Israel; a strategic thinker who sees the potential for NIF’s continued growth; who has an ability to communicate NIF’s mission in public forums; and who is an inspiring team leader. The ideal candidate will be highly self-motivated, knowledge of and experience with the progressive Jewish community of Chicago, and will have a minimum of 5 years professional fundraising experience, preferably for an advocacy organization.
