Dr Dani Filc, chair of Physicians for Human Rights-Israel (PHR), spoke at the home of NIF Canada President Dr. Isser Dubinsky on “Health Care as a Human and Civil Right in Israel.” He stressed the importance of a broad view of health that includes social determinants like food and shelter, as well as the barriers to equal access to health care. The critical roles of PHR and NIF were discussed with regard to our work on the underlying issues of poverty as well as holding government and health care providers accountable and assuring legal rights to health care.
