School Strike Ends in Success |
|
|
After nine days, the school strike we reported on last week in the Negev town of Kseife ended when the education authorities promised the SHATIL-led Forum for Arab Education in the Negev and the school's parents' committee to build a permanent new school to solve overcrowding and dangerous school conditions. The Ministry of Education also promised to remove temporary caravans from the schoolyard in which many classes, including a kindergarten, have been held in substandard conditions due to overcrowding. The decision ends a two-year struggle by the Forum and parents to solve the school's many physical problems. |
