Professor Johann Galtang

"What if Muhammad, Moses and Jesus were to come together to re-write the Ten Commandments?" asked Professor Johann Galtung, world-renowned conflict expert and director of TRANSCEND.  Galtung presented his time-tested model for conflict prevention, management and transformation to a group of leading NGO directors in Israel at the beginning of the month.  A native of Norway, Galtung imparted his decades of insight on managing and mediating conflicts around the world in the beautiful surroundings of the Jewish-Arab community of Neve Shalom.

SHATIL co-organized this special event with the Young Israeli Forum for Cooperation and recruited Israeli NGOs representing the gamut of civil society issues: religious pluralism, Arab-minority rights, inter-faith dialogue, environmental justice and Orthodox feminists.
