(Larry Garber is in Israel this week, his column will return in the next edition of NIF News.)
As the New Israel Fund enters the New Year, we are pleased to announce that the NIF website for the U.S. and Canada is also brand-new. At www.nif.org, you can find out more about our issues, our positions and our work; learn more about our grantees and our action arm, SHATIL; and provide us with information about your interests and issues that will allow us to communicate with you more effectively. We urge you to use our website to tell your friends and families about our work, and to encourage them to support NIF, as well.
We are also pleased to announce that the New Israel Fund is partnering with the Union of Progressive Zionists (UPZ) and IsraelExperts to create a unique Taglit-birthright Israel experience. Discover Israel: Peace, Pluralism, and Social Justice is a free 10-day Taglit- birthright Israel trip for those looking to experience Israel's beauty and complexities, while gaining a deeper understanding of the challenges facing Israel today. The trip will take place this winter.
Registration for this trip opens 9 am EST September 5th (today), and will close October 1. AS THE TRIP FILLS UP QUICKLY, REGISTER EARLY AT www.israelexperts.com/register.html.
As always, thank you for your support, and we look forward to your comments and feedback.

In this week's NIF News we report on a new unit set up by the Israeli government to root out sexual harassment in the workplace. We also feature survey results showing that 60% of Israelis want the authorities to intensify their efforts to eradicate the racist and violent behavior of soccer fans. SHATIL reports on the Jewish Arab Dialogue Group in Haifa and the plight of the school children in an unrecognized village in Ramle.
