Israel’s Democracy at a Crossroads:
An intensive 2-day trip with the New Israel Fund's Board and International Council
We invite you to join members of the New Israel Fund Board and International Council for an exclusive 2-day learning experience in Israel on July 7th-8th, 2011, following the NIF's Board meeting in Israel. This high-level intensive study tour will include visits and conversations with Israeli civil society leaders and activists, and will culminate in a hands-on peace and democracy action in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of Jerusalem.
Add your voice, express your support and see for yourself.
The last few years have seen mounting challenges to democracy in Israel, including proposals for a loyalty oath, demonizing attacks against NIF and its President Naomi Chazan, and numerous bills that threaten to limit the voice of human and civil rights groups. While Israel’s economy may be booming, in the political sphere it is experiencing a democratic recession. Recent government decisions have also sharpened the conversation in Israel and the Diaspora about policies that are affecting the country's global standing, democratic institutions, and relationships with the American Jewish community.
Learn first-hand, about the challenges facing Israel, be inspired by the vibrant network of organizations and people working for a stronger democracy and equality in Israel, and express your support in person.
We hope you will join us for this extraordinary opportunity to hear directly from NIF's leadership and engage with the most pressing issues facing Israel today.
