"Shinui" means change. Project Shinui, founded by NIF/SHATIL, at Merkaz Hamagshamim Hadassah gives you a chance to change your world, your environment, and yourself. The vision of Israel's founders was of a state based upon freedom, justice, and peace as envisaged by the prophets of Israel. To achieve this vision, over three hundred years of Israeli grassroots organizations are committed to social change on a spectrum of issues. Project Shinui is your opportunity to help strengthen Israel's democracy and to promote freedom, social justice, and equality for all of Israel's citizens. Working side by side with Israeli activists, you will gain first hand knowledge of the complexities and challenges facing Israeli society.

The Center for Social and Environmental Activism, of Merkaz Hamagshamim Hadassah, operates a volunteer and intern placement project that matches volunteers and interns with organizations working to strengthen democracy and support social justice in areas such as:

• Civil and Human Rights
• The Status of Women
• Jewish-Arab Coexistence
• Religious Pluralism and Tolerance
• Social and Economic Gaps
• Immigrant Absorption
• Environmental Issues

NOW IT'S EASIER THAN EVER TO VOLUNTEER!!
Based on the information in a volunteer's application, the Project Shinui staff creates a list of potential organizations that is sent to volunteer. The staff then contacts the organizations of interest to the volunteer. Finally, the volunteer is interviewed by the organizations that were chosen, makes his/her choice and begins working.
