As Israel faces a myriad of challenges, New Israel Fund of Canada is committed to empowering some of the most marginalized communities in the country. Today, we are supporting organizations and projects that are working for a more equal and democratic society in Israel.

Civil & Human Rights Projects & Accomplishments
Tabeka, the Center for Legal Aid and Advocacy for Ethiopian Israelis, produced a weekly television program in Amharic on workers’ rights. The show featured case studies of Ethiopian Israelis who had suffered discrimination and mistreatment as a means of educating the viewers about their rights.
Social & Economic Justice Projects & Accomplishments
With Achoti, NIFC works to empower unemployed minority women to create businesses that showcase their traditional products while contributing to community-based economic infrastructures and Fair Trade in Israel.
Religious Pluralism & Tolerance Projects & Accomplishments
NIFC works with Shatil to provide consulting to a coalition of Liberal Orthodox organizations who have created a hotline serving Orthodox women who are suffering physically and/or emotionally from gender segregation.
Women's Rights Projects & Accomplishments
Working with NGO Women and Horizons to advance the status of Arab women and deepen knowledge of women's rights by means of liberal interpretations of the Muslim religious tradition.
Environmental Projects & Accomplishments
NIFC works with Shomera, an award-winning environmental NGO as they develop creative, sustainable ways to find solutions for Israel’s water crisis, including a pilot project to reuse Israel’s greywater.
