POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Associate Director of People and Operations provides comprehensive operations support to the VP of Finance, Operations & Administration. The Associate Director will work with a wide range of operations portfolios and will support the execution of key management functions, as well as system design and implementation, frontline staff support for HR and IT issues, and project management in areas including Human Resources (including talent acquisition and culture building) and Information Technology (IT). This position will be responsible for working with NIF’s staff across the U.S. and in Israel. San Francisco Bay Area residence is a plus but not required. Occasional travel may be necessary once COVID-19 restrictions ease.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Project design and management of HR and IT projects under supervision of VP
  • Frontline responder to staff HR and IT needs and liaison to IT services provider
  • Work with colleagues as central resource in the hiring process, i.e. developing job descriptions, posting openings strategically, conducting first round interviews across the organization
  • Research and implement operations, systems and process improvements as determined by the VP of Finance and Operations
  • Play a lead role in culture building efforts in consultation with and under supervision of VP of Finance and Operations
  • Foster and promote culture of engagement and belonging, team building, and direct, mindful communication among staff
  • Assist in building and facilitating staff meetings and retreats
  • Assist staff to maintain all records in a secure, neat and easily accessible manner on NIF networks
  • Coordinate new employee orientation and onboarding and coordinate departures
  • Assist VP actively in ensuring all HR functions are up-to-date and in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Assist VP in conducting collective bargaining with NIF’s union and in administering an eventual collective bargaining agreement
  • In collaboration with VP, manage VP’s calendar and schedule
  • Prioritize and manage several projects simultaneously

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong communications skills, including warmth, clarity, and ability to express compassion and empathy
  • Energetic, intelligent generalist who is an eager learner with critical thinking and pro-active problem-solving skills
  • Resilient and able to perform with grace and humor under pressure
  • Comfortable and skilled in leading and motivating cross-departmental collaboration
  • Well-organized, detail oriented and fierce about deadlines
  • Strong writing skills
  • Tremendous discretion and good judgment
  • Experience with culture building, team building and retreats
  • Familiarity and facility with mindfulness driven communication tools in the workplace
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Previous operations and/or HR experience preferred but not required
  • Previous experience in project management and systems a plus
  • High proficiency in web research, MS Word, G-Suite, MS Outlook, emerging collaboration technologies, and general knowledge of computer maintenance and functions or eagerness to learn
  • Familiarity with and commitment to engagement with Israel through NIF’s lens

SALARY AND COMPENSATION:
The salary range for this position is $72,000 – $85,000. NIF offers a generous benefits package, in addition, which includes medical, dental, vision (with a hefty percentage paid by the employer for staff and dependents), life insurance; short-term and long-term disability; flex spending; retirement match; vacation, sick leave, and paid holidays (Jewish and secular).
