For Human Rights Day: Support NIF

10 December 2021

December 10th is Human Rights Day. On this day 73 years ago, in the wake of the Second World War and the Holocaust, the United Nations adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which lays out the fundamental rights of every person.

It’s a simple but powerful idea. Because we are human – and for no other reason – we all deserve dignity, freedom, and equality. Human rights are central to our work, central to Israeli civil society, and central to our efforts to build a better Israel.

That’s why I’m asking you to mark Human Rights Day with a special donation to the New Israel Fund. Your support is crucial for the defense of human rights in Israel and the occupied territories.

Human rights touch on almost every cause, every campaign, and every organization that NIF supports.

Freedom of expression is a human right. That’s why we oppose attempts to silence dissent from activists, academics, artists and cultural influencers.

Freedom of movement is a human right. That’s why we provide legal assistance to Palestinians living under the occupation.

Freedom of religion is a human right. That’s why we fight to ensure that everyone in Israel can practice their religion as they see fit – or none at all.

Democracy, due process of law, and equality are human rights. The list goes on and on. If you care about Israel and believe in human rights, then I’m asking you to support Israelis working to defend these rights for all people.

On Human Rights Day, take a stand for the values of dignity and equality. Donate to NIF.
