20 Arab-Jewish Initiatives Win New Israel Fund’s “Voices of Hope” Grant

2 December 2021

The New Israel Fund (NIF) announced the twenty winners of its “Voices of Hope” grants. Following the unprecedented violence in Israel’s mixed cities last May, the New Israel Fund announced that it would allocate NIS 1 million to initiatives that involve Jewish-Arab partnership, calling the project “Voices of Hope.” Today, after reviewing nearly 600 applications, NIF is announcing the winners.

The initiatives that won will benefit a wide range of Israelis — from children to teachers to techies and religious leaders. They also span the breadth of Israel’s geography – from “mixed” cities like Bat Yam, Lod, Ramla and Jaffa, to Jerusalem, Haifa and deep into the Negev. Vice President of Public Engagement at the New Israel Fund, Libby Lenkinski said “we know that it will take all types of people from all across Israel to build the shared future we all want. We will build it together.”

The New Israel Fund is the leading organization advancing and defending democracy and equality for all Israelis. Widely credited with building progressive Israeli civil society, NIF supports a wide range of Israeli nonprofits and has provided over $300 million to progressive civil society organizations since its inception in 1979.
