Donor Profile: Sammy Alkalay

27 September 2018

Sammy Alkalay, who is 70 years old, explains why he is an NIF donor, “I identify with NIF’s principles and not just from the current time. NIF defends the state and works on its behalf. Because of the attacks by the prime minister, I felt it was my civic duty to donate to NIF.”

Alkalay, a marketing manager and grandfather added, “NIF does the things that the government neglects, so it is important to help implement these activities. When was the last time I saw the government help agunot (women whose husbands refuse to grant them a divorce)? That’s just one of many examples.”

He continues, “I am one of the founders of the demonstrations in Jerusalem’s Paris Square protesting government corruption. As somebody who thinks that our authorities are corrupt, I think NIF’s principles really speak to me. NIF invests in a range of organizations in different areas and I don’t feel closer to this or that organizations than any other because they are all important and the most important thing is that NIF’s heart is in the right place.”

For the holidays, Alkalay wishes that, “Incitement in our country will stop and we will finally reach an agreement with our neighbors both inside and outside the country.”
