Take Action

Take Action with the New Israel Fund

NIF convenes and coordinates with Israeli champions of democracy. When there is an opportunity for global voices to amplify the work of these front-line activists, we put out a call to action. Some of these opportunities, both current and archived, are listed below.

Our actions count. We have put the issue of women’s exclusion front and center on the public agenda. We have protested racism and “price-tag” vigilantism and supported Israeli leaders who take on extremism and exclusion. Sometimes lending your voice is all it takes to contribute to a better Israel.

  • Tell Aroma It’s Okay to Speak Arabic

    16 March 2018

A manager at an Aroma Espresso Bar cafe in Israel has barred his employees from speaking in Arabic and the company is standing by this directive. 20% of Israelis are native Arabic speakers. They need to be embraced as a part of mainstream Israel and not shoved to the sidelines. Send this letter to Aroma Espresso Bar’s offices in the United States to pressure them to change course.

Zazim, an Israeli organization modeled on America’s MoveOn.org and incubated by NIF, launched a grassroots campaign to pressure Aroma Espresso Bar. Add your name!

  • No one will tear the Torah scrolls from our arms – not at the Kotel and not anywhere in the world.

    21 November 2017

We’ll deliver this pledge to the prime minister to continue fighting for an Israel that respects religious freedom and civil rights. We’ll tell him that the Kotel must be for all Jews – not only the ultra-Orthodox – and we’ll keep going back no matter how many blows we suffer from those who would keep us from praying. And we will go one step further and insist that Israel be a place of equality for all those that live there.

Now is the time to speak out. Add your name!

  • We Stand Against Hate

    18 November 2016

This Sunday, November, 20th, the ZOA will be hosting Stephen Bannon at its annual fundraising gala in NY. This is the same Bannon that was just appointed by President-elect Trump to be his chief strategist, who, prior to joining the Trump campaign, ran Brietbart News — an outlet that Bannon proudly said was the “platform for the alt-right.”

This isn’t right. Will you join me in speaking up? Together, let us demonstrate that those few American Jews lining up to embrace Bannon are the minority. Please sign this statement before Sunday’s event. Then forward this email to your friends and family.
