Dr. Shula Mola

Dr. Shula Mola is a civil and human rights activist in various voluntary and professional frameworks. Shula served as chairperson of the Association for Ethiopian Jews (AEJ) for 10 years, prior to which she worked at the organization in various strategic positions, including Executive Director. While employed at AEJ, Shula received her BA and MA in Education from Hebrew University and has recently completed her PhD requirements at Ben-Gurion University. Her dissertation focuses on the impact of technology on activist “olim.” In addition, Shula is a graduate of the Mandel School for Educational Leadership and Kolot and holds a teacher’s certificate and a principal’s certificate from the Ministry of Education’s Center for the Development of Senior Teaching Staff.

She served on the board of the Steinhardt Family Foundation and the Gesher Multicultural Film Fund, and as a council member of Kol-Zchut and of the Justice Ministry’s Anti-Racism Department. Shula is one of the founders of and key activists in “Mothers on Guard” – a group of mothers who protest police brutality against youth of Ethiopian origin.

In her professional career, Shula has focused on her areas of expertise: she worked as a training coordinator for active civics at “Signing Anew,” a homeroom teacher at the Reut School in Jerusalem, and a community development coordinator at the Israel Center for Educational Innovation. Shula is currently a teaching instructor and curriculum developer at the Center for Educational Technology and is a member of the research and development team at the “Avney Rosha” School Leadership Institute.

In addition, Shula has participated in a number of documentary films on social justice issues and writes op-ed articles for newspapers and digital media on pressing social matters. Shula is a mother of four and is married to Asher Rahamim.
