NIF’s Executive Director Mickey Gitzin met with Israel’s President Isaac Herzog at the President’s Residence in Jerusalem. The two discussed the horrific pictures coming out of Ukraine in the wake of the Russian invasion and the efforts by civil society organizations to assist on the ground there.

In addition, President Herzog and Mickey Gitzin discussed the impact of climate change and growing social inequality. They also spoke about the strategic importance of deepening relations between Israel and Diaspora Jewry and the role of the New Israel Fund as a bridge between the two worlds. Gitzin made very clear NIF’s core priorities for democracy, equality and justice in Israel.
