Sally Abed, national elected leader of Standing Together, explains to a crowd of over 300 people in Washington, DC, how difficult the past month has been for her as a Palestinian citizen of Israel who holds the pain of both Palestinians and Israelis while facing political and public repression.
NIF’s Vice President of Public Engagement, Libby Lenkinski, moderates the New York discussion in front of a crowd of over 500 people where Alon-Lee Green, national co director of Standing Together, spoke about the need for peace and intercommunal solidarity and how peace is the only option which will bring security and safety to everyone.
Alon-Lee Green tells a Boston crowd of over 400 people about their work at the moment: solidarity watch committees to smooth tensions, solidarity rallies that bring hundreds in each time, and hotlines to monitor civil rights abuses.
When asked for a story about a glimmer of hope, Alon-Lee tells about how Sally brought a crowd of hundreds of Israelis–Jewish and Arab–to tears when she spoke at a solidarity rally about the need to hold everyone’s pain.
Sally and Alon-Lee receive a standing ovation at the end of their discussion in New York.
