Ofakim Celebrates New Overnight Medical Center
30 October 2013Thanks to the efforts of NIF grantee Ahuzat Negev, supported by flagship NIF grantee the Association for Civil Rights in Israel (ACRI) and Physicians for Human Rights – Israel, the residents of Ofakim are celebrating the announcement that a urgent care center will be opened in their town. This follows a two year campaign, in which Ahuzat Negev convened two conferences advocating for the opening of the medical center, as well as collaborating with Sapir College to produce a position paper to the Health Ministry on the issue.

New Israel Fund-Supported Groups Win Key Court Victory for African Refugees
16 September 2013Washington DC: A landmark victory for human rights was won in Israel today when an expanded panel of the Supreme Court invalidated the Third Amendment to the Anti-Infiltration Law passed by the Knesset in 2012, which incarcerated more than 2000 African refugees without due process or recourse to the possibility of asylum.
